New Music Team Appointments!

By Website News

CMVC is delighted to announce the expansion of our musical team with the appointment of two new members.

First, we welcome Scott Williams who has been appointed as Deputy Accompanist, supporting the one and only Sandra Williams. Scott has been associated with the choir for a few years now, offering his magnificent organ playing skills to enhance some of the choir’s concert performances.

Secondly, we welcome Jane Coles who has been appointed as Deputy Musical Director, supporting the brilliant Rhiannon Williams. Jane is deputy musical director at Caerphilly MVC and accompanist at Llantrisant Male Choir, so brings fantastic experience and expertise to Cowbridge, whilst also having a background as a keyboard player and backing vocalist for various pop, soul and jazz bands!

Please welcome Scott and Jane to our fabulous choir family.

Carols in Cowbridge brings festive joy

By Website News

On Thursday 21st December around 40 choristers toured various pubs of Cowbridge, offering carols and receiving huge support from revellers. Huge thanks to Harry’s Bar, The Duke of Wellington, The Bear Hotel and The Horse & Groom for inviting and welcoming us on what is certain now to be a regular event. The choir was even privileged to sing a song for newly-marrieds Gabriella and Michael during their reception at The Bear.

Wishing all choristers, musical team, supporters, sponsors, friends and families a happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas.

Uplifting & memorable Christmas concert

By Website News

At a packed and sold out Holy Cross Church in Cowbridge the choir delivered what many believe to be their finest Christmas concert in memory. From rousing hymns to sentimental and nostalgia-rich carols and from outstanding soloists to the debut of ‘let the river run’, this was a magnificent evening. Many thanks to brilliant soloists Christian Street and Esther Thomas-Bizjak, organist Scott Williams and our wonderful music team of Rhiannon Williams and Sandra Williams.

Specsavers sponsors CMVC

By Website News

The Choir is thrilled to advise that Specsavers of Cowbridge & Talbot Green have generously agreed to become a sponsor of the Choir. They join The Place for Homes, our principal and longstanding sponsor of CMVC. The sponsorship will enable the choir to further invest in musical equipment, travel and music and we are all delighted with the new arrangement. Commenting on the new sponsorship, CMVC chairman Jon Wilks said “this is a wonderful development for the choir and we much value Specsavers’ support. They, like us, are at the heart of the communities they serve and we are very grateful to them.”

Moliant Y Maes headliners!

By Website News

At the invitation of the President of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, Johnny Homfray, the choir was immensely proud to headline the very popular Moliant Y Maes event on the evening before the start of the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells. An audience reckoned to be over 1,000 attended the shearing shed (where the event is traditionally held)  and the feedback was instantly extraordinary. Indeed, watch this space for notice of a new concert being planned with the RWAS in the Winter, such was the acclaim.

Incredible Annual Concert

By Website News

The audience came in their hundreds for our annual concert at Cowbridge Leisure Centre on July 15th and enjoyed a sumptuous evening of songs mixing traditional hymns with modern melodies. We unveiled 2 new debutant choristers in Phil Williams and Huw Davies, whilst a further 7 were making annual concert debuts. Our soloist, Ellen Williams, was majesty personified, whilst a highlight for many was a first performance of the Joni Mitchell song ‘Both Sides Now’ featuring 9 BSL-trained choristers signing the entire song. A standing ovation resulted. Bravo to our musical team of Rhiannon Williams (MD), Sandra Williams (accompanist) and Scott Williams (organ) for a wonderful performance and thanks to all of you who supported.

Clanfield fiesta

The Choir’s visit to Clanfield was an absolute fiesta from start to finish. A wonderful community tea on arrival, a sold out audience in very warm and sultry conditions and a packed pub for the brilliant afterglow. Bravo Clanfield – we will return!
